Senior Project Manager – Community Engagement – Canal and River Trust
Salary: £35,000
Term: Fixed Term - 12 months
Location: Canal and River Trust - Worcester
Closing date: 12:00 am 19 September 2021
We are the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of waterways across England and Wales, because we believe that life is better by water. Every role across the Trust plays its part in transforming our canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better, bringing wellbeing benefits to millions.
We are looking for a motivated Community Engagement Project Manager to lead our activity plan team for the final phase of the Unlocking the Severn project. The already award-winning project has received high profile coverage in press, radio and TV, and is a flagship project for Canal & River Trust, National Lottery Heritage Fund and the EU Life Programme. This is the largest river restoration project currently underway in Europe. Construction works and interpretation infrastructure are complete and we are ready for the next phase.
This exciting post will be largely based at Diglis island workshop and fish pass in Worcester, where we are just about to launch the Trust’s latest Visitor Destination – including England’s only fish viewing gallery. The fish pass is already exceeding our expectations, as we have had 19 species of fish use the fish pass to bypass the weir, and for some, to gain access to important historic spawning grounds higher up the Severn. Now we are entering the significant phase of the project for sharing this with schools, families, wildlife enthusiasts, as well as less traditional audiences. Would you like to lead this exciting chapter, with the team?
You will be passionate and enthusiastic. You will have experience organising and running community engagement activities, budgeting and evaluating them as you go. You will be in a unique environment, offering an awe-inspiring experience for all our visitors.
