We are currently looking for a Librarian to lead on the development, processing, cataloguing and care of the library collections managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to make them accessible to our audiences.
Working for the Head of Collections you will develop and catalogue the library collections in line with our policies and agreed professional standards. You will undertake preventative conservation and care of the library collections and liaise with conservators as required.
It is an exciting time to join the Trust as we recover from the pandemic and look boldly towards the future, seeking to develop access to the library collections via the Reading Room and remote research services, loans, digital content and on-site interpretation.
To be successful in this role you will be a qualified Librarian, have experience of working with special collections including early printed books, possess knowledge of library classification standards and be competent using a library management system.
You will be a vital part of our interdisciplinary team of museum, library and archive expertise. You will be the lead on Library practice and provide expertise for shared curatorial activity and projects. You will be committed to working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to increase public access to, and engagement with, our library collection.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a commitment to professional, friendly and helpful customer service, be committed to delivering high standards and be able to plan your workload and achieve deadlines.
