With experience in strategic management in the culture, public or voluntary sector, you will provide overall direction and management of Epworth Old Rectory, enthusing staff and volunteers in its vision and developing its strategy to fulfil its aims and ambitions.
Epworth Old Rectory
Epworth Old Rectory is the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley, the founders of Methodism, a global movement of approximately 80 million people. It is a Grade I listed building, a Queen Anne period house, built in 1709 with later additions. An Accredited Museum, it has an extensive collection, including a unique collection relating to Methodist women.
Background
Covid presented many challenges and opportunities. In order to respond to these, we reviewed our operational model, including the staffing structure and overall visitor experience. We wished to embrace the potential of EOR as a site of global significance, developing new strategic partnerships, building new audiences online and on site, and addressing the challenges of caring for a historic building today.
Our new staffing structure has been in place for two years and has proved effective in progressing our vision. A vacancy has now arisen for a new Strategic Manager.
The Role
- To provide strategic direction, management, development and delivery of EOR as a heritage resource for mission as one of the four main heritage sites within the Methodist Church
- To initiate vision and strategy and enthuse staff and volunteers to deliver the aims of the organisation
- To oversee development and delivery of a dynamic engagement programme for all ages which presents the life and legacy of Susanna Wesley as inspiration for women today, both within Christian communities and wider society
- To identify and access new funding opportunities aligned to strategic direction.
£36,800 per annum pro rata (£13,925 per annum) (2024 rate)
