Job Title: Visitor Experience Host
Hours: Part time
Location: Huguenot Museum, 95 High Street, Rochester ME1 1LX
Closing date: 12:00 am 6 November 2023

Exciting opportunity for two energetic individuals with good communication skills to contribute to a successful future for an established museum.

The Huguenot Museum in Rochester is seeking to appoint a Visitor Experience Host to work alongside volunteers to present the public face of the museum to visitors on a day-today basis by staffing the reception/admissions point; helping visitors make the most out of their visit; and monitoring the security of galleries and collections.

You will report to the Museum’s Operations Manager. The museum, which opened in 2015 following generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, illustrates the story of Britain’s first refugees, French Protestants. Having escaped persecution to settle in Britain, they subsequently made an enormous and enduring impact in the worlds of finance, industry, medicine, literature, arts, and crafts. The Museum is working towards A New Future supported by a NLHF resilience grant.

The successful candidate will support the day to day opening of the museum by undertaking a range of tasks assigned by the Operations Manager including:

  • Opening and Closing routines
  • Welcoming and engaging with visitors
  • Admissions and retail sales
  • Gallery invigilation to monitor the safety and security of visitors, collections and exhibitions
  • Delivery of ‘pop up talks’ and other in gallery activities

Support the Operations Manager with the delivery of occasional pre-arranged tours of the museum and wider French Hospital site. Undertake all activities in accordance with the Museums Health & Safety Policy.

This is a part-time job-share post divided into 8 hours a week and 12 hours a week. Normal working hours 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
