Visitor Experience Manager – Hepworth Wakefield

The Hepworth Wakefield has welcomed over 2.3 million visitors since opening in May 2011 and is now firmly established as a major local, national and international attraction, winning Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2017. The gallery presents acclaimed major exhibitions of the best international modern and contemporary art. It is also home to Wakefield’s important and growing collection of modern British and contemporary art. In August 2019 we opened The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. Designed by internationally renowned designer Tom Stuart-Smith, it features several sculptures, and is free for all to enjoy. This year we are celebrating our 10th anniversary with Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life, the largest exhibition since the artist’s death in 1975.

The Visitor Experience Manager will be responsible for ensuring that every visitor to the gallery has an excellent experience, encouraging them to return and become long term supporters. This is an extremely varied role which will involve working collaboratively with all teams to ensure the smooth running of visitor operations, management of the visitor experience team (staff and volunteers) and maximising commercial opportunities including driving sales of tickets and membership. You will also be responsible for ensuring that safety, access and security procedures are adhered to across the site.

We are looking for an experienced manager who enjoys engaging visitors in a cultural or heritage setting, has a passion for excellent customer care and is driven to exceed expectations.
