Visitor Experience Manager – Historic Coventry Trust
Salary: £25,000
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Historic Coventry Trust is an ambitious and entrepreneurial community-led charity on a mission to restore and reuse Coventry’s heritage buildings. We have recently restored and opened major projects within the city such as Drapers’ Hall as a music and events venue, Priory Row and Swanswell Gate as holiday accommodation and the Anglican Chapel as a venue for hire.
Charterhouse is a 14th century Priory and following extensive restoration (supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund) it will open as a major heritage visitor attraction to in April 2023.
The role
We require a dynamic part time Visitor Experience Manager to join the small team running Charterhouse as a visitor attraction. This role will be key in delivering a first-class visitor experience and managing an enthusiastic team of volunteers. It will also play an important part in developing a solid and sustainable offer for the success of Charterhouse as a ‘must see/must be part of’ attraction in the city. Day to day duties will involve the safe and efficient running of Front of House services, management of volunteers, liaison with colleagues within the café and gardens, as well as providing Duty Management duties.
Working patterns will follow a rota which will include regular weekend working. Some occasional out of hours work will also be required for special events.
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000
About you
A passion for engaging visitors with Coventry’s heritage and ensuring every visitor has a great day out.
Direct experience of working with the public, preferably within a visitor attraction.
Good understanding of exceptional visitor experience and good level of commercial acumen.
Creative and imaginative approach to enhancing the visitor experience.
Ability and experience of leading small teams, in particular the approach to reward, recognise and motivate volunteers.
Collaborative and flexible team-player, with excellent interpersonal, written, numerical and IT skills.
Practical, with a sound understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
Full DBS checks will be required.
