Visitor Services Assistants – Shakespeare Birthplace Trust

The Trust is looking for Visitor Services Assistants to work at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Shakespeare’s New Place to support us over the 2022 season. 

A variety of part-time fixed term contracts is available; 24, 18 or 12 hours per week; and the contract duration is Monday 21 March to Sunday 30 October 2022.

As Visitor Services Assistant you will provide consistently high standards of visitor care at all times, from the moment of arrival through the entrance, exhibition, garden and house, to the final point of departure, ensuring every visitor has a safe and enjoyable experience.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of working in a public or visitor facing role, agile and flexible to what is required, committed to providing excellent customer service, IT literate and able to confidently operate till and ticketing systems, and used to working as part of a team.

Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Shakespeare’s New Place will be open seven days a week 10.00am to 5.00pm, and you will be required to work weekdays, weekends and a fair share of Bank Holidays so you should be flexible and available. There will also be a requirement to work out of hours events.

Fixed term contract

There are three contract types available, working 24, 18 or 12 hours per week. Contact duration: Monday 21 March 2022 to Sunday 30 October 2022.

Casual contract

This means that there will be no “mutuality of obligation” between the parties. For example, there is no obligation on the Trust to offer you
any minimum amount of work in any given period and no obligation on you to accept work when it is offered.

In this casual engagement you will not be contracted to work a certain number of hours per week as it depends on the needs of the business.

Salary £8.91 per hour rising to £9.50 from 1 April 2022.
