Volunteer Support and Recruitment Officer – Milton Keynes Museum
Salary: £26,000
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours), ability to regularly work evenings and weekends essential
Location: Milton Keynes Museum, Wolverton, Milton Keynes
Closing date: 12:00 am 7 June 2021
Milton Keynes Museum is currently undergoing an exciting £7.3 million expansion project with over £5 million coming from Milton Keynes Council and the rest being sought from other funders. This expansion is producing exciting opportunities for more people to be involved with, and to support the Museum. The post is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the volunteer recruitment, development and training aspects of this project, making a difference at a key time in our forward plan.
The volunteer ethos is central to Milton Keynes Museum. There are a small number of employees lead by the Director, supported by a workforce of 120 volunteers in different teams. Our volunteers are fundamental to creating and contributing to the culture and appeal of MK Museum and many are face of the Museum.
We are therefore seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and organised person with a strong track record in working with volunteers and with experience in management, recruitment and training and development.
The Volunteer Support Officer will develop and implement a robust recruitment strategy aligned to our business plan. The role holder will also be required to assess how the volunteer workforce has been affected by the pandemic and seeking to overcome the additional challenge this presents will be one of the first priorities in the role.
The post holder will undertake targeted recruitment, manage a relevant induction and training programme, and provide ongoing development and support. The volunteers work in teams with the team leaders forming the management group that meets formally every two weeks. The Volunteer Officer would work with the team leaders.
The post would suit an experienced person who can work well with an established volunteer structure, while also having the expertise and confidence to introduce new approaches and ideas.
