Wanlockhead Museum Trust – Museum of Lead Mining – is seeking an Hon. Treasurer and trustees.
Responsibilities of the Hon. Treasurer:
- Oversee the financial affairs of the charity and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Monitor the financial standing of the charity and report to the Board regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources
- To regularly liaise with the Office Administrator
- Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals.
- Prepare the annual report to Charity Commissioners
- Acts as a counter signatory on cheques and applications to funders and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators at the appropriate time.
- Liaising with accountant.
- and external examiners on financial issues and ensuring that the charities finances are responsibly managed/invested for the betterment of the charities work and for the beneficiaries it serves.
Qualities
- Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management.
- Good financial analysis skills.
- Good IT skills, spread sheets etc
- Ability to communicate clearly
- An understanding of the charity and its purpose.
Additional information
Number of meetings per annum/time commitment:
Four Board meetings, plus AGM, annually. Some Board meetings are held on-line.
Time to fulfil requirements of post. Annual turnover ~£160,000.
Daytime or evening meetings: To suit the team
