Chief Executive – Port Sunlight Village Trust

Job Title: Chief Executive

Hours: Full time

Location: Port Sunlight Village Trust, Wirral

Closing date: 12:00 am, 20 Jun 2025

Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT) has the most unique of settings, and we are looking for a visible and influential Chief Executive to tell our story well, boost visitor numbers, and lead the next chapter in our history.

Founded for his workers by William Hesketh Lever in 1888, the village is arguably the finest and most intact surviving example of early urban planning in the world. Today, it is a place where 130 years of history and a thriving community come together – celebrating a vibrant local heritage and planning for an exciting future. The entire site is a Designated Conservation Area, and nearly every building is Grade II Listed. With a world-renowned art gallery, 130 acres of parkland and gardens and our own museum, we are delighted to welcome over 300,000 visitors annually. With around 300 homes forming part of the estate, PSVT also has a vital role to play as landlord to today’s tenants.

We are looking for someone who can maximise the potential of this unique and special place – enhancing its profile as a visitor destination. We are also looking for someone who can be a champion and an ambassador for Port Sunlight. So, it is important that you are skilful in networking to build successful partnerships locally and nationally that can support our ongoing stewardship of this wonderful place.

You should be able to lead across a very varied portfolio which includes heritage conservation, museum management, and estate management. Reporting directly to the Trustee Board you will be responsible for oversight of the day-to-day running of PSVT, ensuring careful management and development of such a valuable asset. The diverse nature and complexity of our asset base means that this role is both challenging and rewarding. As well as assured leadership skills, highly developed commercial and financial awareness will be vital in ensuring a sustainable and successful future. Working with an extensive and diverse set of stakeholders, it is important that you are politically adept, with highly developed communication and engagement skills.
