Purpose of post: We are looking for a contractor to deliver a Museum Development Project, funded by Arts Council England, to unlock the social history of the collection within our community.
Context and responsibilities:
Aston Manor Road Transport Museum (AMRTM) based in Aldridge, Walsall, is a small museum focussed on Commercial Road Transport vehicles and artefacts, built or operated in the West Midlands. These range from basic early horse drawn vehicles to light commercial vans, trucks and buses. The museum, which is a charity, is also custodian of a large collection of documentation.
The role is to develop three permanent exhibition themes on:
- Future of transport
- The social history of transport
- Transport community.
We are seeking a proactive, organised and experienced individual with a passion for heritage, particularly in the area of transport, to work with our team for an initial one-year part time role. You will work closely with the Museum Resilience Contractor, who will be developing funding generation and income streams.
The successful candidate will have experience in curating exhibitions in a museum setting; Audience development; Marketing and budget awareness. A proven ability to work flexibly particularly on museum open and event days.
Terms and Conditions:
You will be a freelance contractor for this part time, (21hrs, 3 days per week with hybrid and some weekend working), one year contract. Budget circa £19K. The role may be extended based on results.
