Glastonbury Abbey is a site of tremendous historic and spiritual significance, situated in the heart of Somerset. The ruins of the abbey have been open to the public since the early 1900s. Today the site and ruins are in the care of an independent charity which depends on visitor income to fulfil its charitable objectives to preserve the ruins, present them for public benefit and promote its Christian heritage. A trading company was established to support these charitable aims.
Growing from a modest bookshop in the 1980s, Glastonbury Abbey Trading now includes retail, catering, venue hire, workshops and events. A major redevelopment which includes a new café and shop was opened earlier in 2025; there is now a need to ensure its success whilst continuing to develop all other trading activities. The Trading Board is seeking to appoint new, experienced non-executive directors, who can provide the required advice and support.
