Haslemere Educational Museum is seeking a Collections Trustee to join our Board and help guide the care and future development of our remarkable collections.
Founded in 1888, we are one of the UK’s oldest independent museums and care for over 400,000 objects covering natural history, human history and geology. As an independent charity with no regular public funding, strong governance is essential to our sustainability and success.
You will provide strategic oversight and expert guidance on collections care, ethics, policy and risk, acting as a critical friend to our professional team. Key areas include documentation, conservation, access, acquisitions, loans, disposals, provenance and compliance with sector standards (Spectrum, Accreditation, Museums Association Code of Ethics).
We are looking for someone with senior professional experience in museum collections management or curatorial work, strong knowledge of sector standards, and the ability to contribute constructively at Board level.
We particularly welcome experience in specialist collections areas such as natural history, geology or social history.
