The Museum of Lead Mining is a Visit Scotland 4 Star Visitor Attraction set in the village of Wanlockhead. It is an accredited museum holding a Recognised Collection of historic importance. Our visitor experience includes a tour of an 18th-century lead mine, miners’ cottages through the ages, one of the oldest subscription Library’s in Europe, gold panning, the museum and tearoom.
The Board of Wanlockhead Museum Trust (SC001508) is seeking to appoint trustees with a passion for industrial history, heritage, geology, mining or social history. We are looking for people with experience in any of the following areas:
- Financial management
- Curatorial practice
- Mining and geology
- Educational outreach and community engagement
- Retail and marketing
- Communication, social media, website and IT.
Although the above skills are of great worth to us, we value applicants with an interest in the local area and the Community with a commitment to conserving and preserving our Lead Mining heritage.
