St Andrews Preservation Trust Ltd. (STAPT Ltd is a registered charity SC011782) is seeking to appoint a Project Redevelopment Officer for 14 months to support its plans for the redevelopment of its local Museum, the St Andrews Heritage Museum & Garden.

Located within the historic heart of St Andrews within a B listed building, the Museum, which is Accredited, seeks to attract a broad range of visitors and present and interpret the social history of the town and the local area. The redevelopment of the Museum will improve the visitor experience, re-display important local collections, and create deeper links with the local community in St Andrews. Initial funding support has been provided by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and Museum Galleries Scotland (MGS).

This is an exciting time to join the team which includes an enthusiastic volunteer workforce. The Trust is seeking an experienced Project Redevelopment Manager to work strategically with the Museum Project Board during this exciting period of development to enhance our plans, secure project funding and ensure our organisation has strong foundations from which to build our future.

Responsible to Chair

Works with Museum Project Board, Project Volunteers, Administrator, Digital Apprentice

Holiday 20 days, 8 days public holidays (pro-rata)

Salary £30,000 per annum pro-rata based on 35 hours per week (take home annual salary £24,000 per annum)

Job purpose

This strategic and critical role has been identified for progressing the Trust’s plans for our museum redevelopment which will see the biggest transformation of the museum and garden in its 40-year history. Exciting plans are underway to develop the museum to improve the visitor experience through a new outreach programme, re-imagined displays, new facilities and improved access.

We are very proud of our Museum – which enjoys the support of a dedicated volunteer workforce – and want to encourage more, and new, visitors to this ‘hidden gem’ within the town. This ambition is at the heart of this job role. This position is best suited to a candidate with demonstrable knowledge and experience of working on redevelopment projects, with specific skills in project management, fundraising and with a past record of delivering and evaluating community projects.
