Coronation resources
Ahead of the Coronation of His Majesty The King & Her Majesty The Queen Consort on 6 May, DCMS is working closely with Buckingham Palace to help create a sense of occasion, inclusion and excitement, to bring communities together to celebrate the historic moment.
Coronation social media toolkit
To assist with this they have prepared a comms toolkit with a range of materials for organisations to support in making the lead up to, and the weekend itself, as memorable and exciting as possible. This includes social media assets, suggested social media copy and other ways to get involved. The assets are all available to download for free here.
The Big Help Out
In tribute to His Majesty The King’s lifetime of public service, a national day of volunteering will take place on Monday 8 May. The Big Help Out, will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas. The day will shine a spotlight on the power of volunteering to bring people together and make a difference to local communities, as well as creating a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend. The Big Help Out is supported by The Together Coalition and some of Britain’s best-known charities and community organisations, from the Scouts to the Royal Voluntary Service, the National Trust to the Canal and River Trust.
DCMS are also encouraging all arts and culture organisations to join in with The Big Help Out and register their volunteering opportunities via the app or website. Monday 8 May will be a focal point in the weekend’s events and will be a springboard to increase volunteering across the UK beyond the bank holiday. This is a fantastic opportunity for independent museums to showcase the strong volunteering offer available in the sector, engage with local communities beyond the bank holiday, and expand the pool of volunteers within the sector.
You can download the Big Help Out toolkit for more ways that businesses and organisations can get involved.
