DCMS College of Experts

DCMS is looking to recruit 20 individuals for our College of Experts. It is vital that the Department’s work is informed by the most up to date research and expertise across the breadth of our sectors. Establishing a College of Experts will allow our policy teams to engage with leading researchers across a range of disciplines and domains and to draw upon expertise to ensure that the work of the Department is effective. As a member of our College of Experts you will have the opportunity to directly inform and influence our work in these domains and ensure your research has a real-world impact and helps shape Government policy.

Job description

DCMS is recruiting members for its College of Experts, to provide independent, impartial, strategic and technical advice on departmental research, policy and programmes for a period of up to 3 years.

The college will act as a source of expert input focusing on providing evidence and knowledge of research to inform policy developed by the department. The DCMS College of Experts reports to the department’s Chief Scientific Adviser and is devised as a flexible resource, enabling the Department to obtain the expert input it needs in a timely manner, drawing on a range of perspectives and disciplines.

We are recruiting across our policy portfolio with a focus on priority areas (Digital Technology and Infrastructure; Internet Safety and Security; Art, Culture and the Creative Industries).

The role will be voluntary with reasonable expenses reimbursed. We hope that the college will become a network of expertise, allowing members to share research and experience among their peers. Ultimately, members will form advisory groups, independent advice mechanisms and support DCMS with its priorities across its broad portfolio.
