Job vacancy – Freelance exhibitions specialist
Job title: Freelance museum exhibition specialist
Location: Home based, required to travel to the Wessex Museums.
Fee: £6,000 inclusive of VAT and expenses
Status: Freelance contract through the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole (BCP) Council on behalf of Wessex Museums
Reporting to: Wessex Museums Partnership Manager
Contract: Mar – Dec 2021
Closing date: 12noon 17 February 2021
As part of our future planning, Wessex Museums is looking for an experienced and innovative freelance museum exhibition specialist to help us to develop a partnership exhibitions plan for 2023- 2026.
Our four museums have developed a number of successful partnership exhibitions that showcase our collections and share the story of our region. We have seen the benefits of working in partnership and are keen to build on this experience by doing more partnership exhibitions, in our museums and beyond, over the coming years.
The exhibition plan will integrate with and expand on the themes in our partnership interpretation strategy and our museums’ collections, respond to our priority audience groups, as well as explore different delivery and income models for the partnership. Crucially, the plan will inform our next National Portfolio Organisation funding bid to Arts Council England at the end of 2021.
If you are an innovative museum exhibition producer with a track record of working on major exhibitions, through partnerships, as well as a strong network of contacts in the sector, we would love to hear from you.
This is a freelance consultancy contract, March to December 2021. You can find full details on the Contract Brief, including how to submit your proposal.
The deadline for proposals is 12pm, Wednesday 17 February 2021.
Please email any queries to Kristina Broughton, Wessex Museums Partnership Manager.
