Steps to Sustainability skills sessions

AIM is pleased to support Steps to Sustainability – a Social Enterprise Academy programme supporting heritage organisations from across the UK to strengthen their strategic leadership and income-generating skills. Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Social Enterprise Academy is hosting a series of free, online Skills Workshops open to anyone working in the heritage sector.

Book your place onto the following short sessions to explore and develop a wide range of skills with peers and experts.

Skills Session 1 / Retail Management Essentials
16 March, 10am-1pm

This session will consider what the raison d’être is for your heritage shop. It will look at fundamental questions of retail space and shop fitting; measuring performance and profitability: elementary buying skills and sourcing, plus pricing to achieve target gross profit margins.

Skills Session 2 / Digital Engagement
28 March, 10am-1pm

This session will provide helpful resources in planning your engagement strategy. It will offer something for everyone, including a chance to ask questions and get support as you embrace digital engagement and build confidence in your content creation.

Skills Session 3 / Fundraising
18 April, 9.30am-12.30pm

This session will provide an overview of the current fundraising environment for heritage organisations. Sitting alongside the Alternative Sources of Finance, this session will provide practical advice on kick-starting or improving your fundraising activity.

Skills Session 4 / Marketing & PR
25 April, 9.30am-12.30pm

This session will provide a deeper understanding of marketing, audiences and how they interrelate. It will introduce a range of frameworks and models to facilitate strategic marketing and will help the learner to develop an increased level of confidence in planning and delivering.

Skills Session 5 / Alternative Sources of Finance
11 May, 10am-4pm

This session will explore what is meant by social finance and investment and the range of financial support available to the sector. It will cover the many innovative, low risk and socially driven ways of raising capital and becoming more self-reliant. 

Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis. Workshops only allow up to 16 people. Please note that this is for people who work in the heritage sector only.
