Amberley Museum, founded in 1979, is located in the South Downs National Park, West Sussex.  We preserve rural, transport, industrial and communications history in a 41 acre former chalk pits and lime works, welcoming over 55,000 visitors in 2023, including 3,000 school children. We organise some 30 events every year, from classic cars and miniature steam, with children’s activities during school holidays. We have a small dedicated professional staff and rely heavily on over 350 regular volunteers, who run the narrow-gauge steam railway and vintage bus service daily, look after the wide range of other activities, collections and interact with visitors. The contribution of our volunteers was recognised nationally in 2023 when we received the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.

This is an exciting time for us, as having successfully overcome the challenges of Covid, we embarking on ambitious plans to invest, grow and prosper in coming years.

We are looking to increase the expertise of our Board membership and would like to hear from individuals with appropriate experience and perspectives. Diversity is important to us and minority groups are currently underrepresented on the Board, so we would encourage applications from a broad spectrum of professional and social backgrounds.
