Role Description:

Trustees of the Board at the National Horseracing Museum are responsible for overseeing the Charities strategic goals, ensuring the organisation is operating in an ethical and fiscally responsible way.

The Board of Trustees is currently recruiting for a Museum Specialist within the Board of Trustees to advocate for Museum standards, conservation, and care of the collections.

Person Specification: 

Essential

  • Significant experience as Senior Manager in an accredited GLAM (Gallery, Library, Archive, Museum) organisation
  • A strong understanding of Museum practices, MA Code of Ethics and Spectrum
  • Experience completing Museum Accreditation
  • Understanding of historic buildings care and management
  • Familiarity with grants and fundraising for GLAM organisations
  • Experience working on accessibility projects or policies within the arts & culture sector

Desirable

  • An interest in the history of Horseracing or British Sporting Art
  • An interest in museums and caring for their collections
  • An interest in education and community engagement
  • Be an excellent communicator, with influencing skills to act as an ambassador for the museum through networking and relationship building
  • Familiarity with Charity Commission requirements.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 4 meeting per annum held at the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket
