Trustee vacancy – Almond Valley Heritage Trust

The Board of Almond Valley Heritage Trust is responsible for the strategic direction of our charity. It sets and monitors policy, and provides oversight of operations and activities that are implemented by our professional team. Board members (Trustees) bring a diverse range of interests and experiences to the Board, represent a fair balance of views and perspectives, and are able to draw on many skills and strategic insights. We’re always happy to hear from individuals with appropriate interests and experiences who may be interested in joining the Board. At present an individual with a background in heritage and museum policy would usefully complement the skills already represented on the Board.

Almond Valley aims to “preserve and interpret the heritage and environment of West Lothian and make this heritage accessible, engaging and enjoyed by all”. We hold a Nationally significant museum collection relating to Scotland’s shale oil industry and deliver a range of on-line museum services. All of this is made possible by generating income and engaging audiences through the successful operation of Almond Valley as a family-based visitor destination. As part of “a wonderful day of adventure and play” we involve families in happy experiences that stimulate the imagination, arouse curiosity and promote learning. We welcome over 130,000 visitors each year, employ over 50 staff at the height of the season, and have an annual turnover in excess of a £1m.
