Trustee vacancy – East Grinstead Museum

East Grinstead Museum is looking for dynamic and creative Trustees to join our board as we embark on a series of exciting projects including redesigning our permanent exhibitions.

The trustees have ultimate responsibility for the Museum and are collectively responsible for its governance. The role of trustees is to ensure that the Museum has a clear vision and strategic direction, is sustainable, and complies with the law.

The Museum is looking for applicants who have knowledge and skills within the Museum Sector, whether that is with collections, learning, outreach, fundraising or other relevant skills. This is to supplement the existing capabilities of the Trustees.

Key Responsibilities of this Trustee role

The role of a trustee for the Museum is varied, exciting and hugely rewarding.

Key responsibilities for this trustee role are:

  • Contribute to the work of the Board, including setting the strategic direction,
  • Overseeing operating performance,
  • Ensuring compliance with national and local Museum standards and policies in support of the Museum’s charitable aims.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 6 meetings a year, with around 4-6 hours a month commitment. (Mostly remotely using email)

Daytime or evening meetings: Evening Meetings – held on Tuesdays.
