Trustee vacancy – Foxton Inclined Plane Trust

For over 30 years the Trust through the Foxton Canal Museum has brought the remarkable history of the Foxton Locks site to life. An idyllic location which was at the heart of joining Leicestershire with the rest of the country during the Industrial revolution

The Foxton Canal Museum is located at the Foxton Locks site, through which Leicestershire was first connected to London by water in the 19th century (first by Locks and then by the extraordinary Boat lift).

We want to encourage everyone to connect with both the history and the idyllic environment, ultimately becoming the focal point for;

  • Learning & education
  • Social History – Bring to life the past, present and possible future of the Lift, locks & lives of people associated with the local area
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Ecology & Environmental Sustainability
  • Local History – Landscape, buildings, art, waterways, past events

With recent events and the current financial climate the need to raise funds to make our aims possible is vital. As an independent museum (without external funding) this is our highest priority.
