Trustee vacancy – Gordon Russell Design Museum

The Gordon Russell Design Museum is seeking trustees to help shape the museum’s future. We are looking for imaginative, engaged contributors who will bring new perspectives, skills and experience.

We are particularly looking for people with experience in the following areas:

  • Learning: to develop the programme across all ages and enhance the support the Museum can offer young people in schools, colleges and universities
  • Development: to diversify income streams and identify fundraising opportunities to support the museum’s objectives and financial sustainability
  • Retail: to support the development of commercial opportunities including the museum’s online and on-site shop brand Plane & Saw
  • Digital: to support the museum’s digital strategy, to reach new audiences and generate income
  • Museums: to make connections within the arts, culture and heritage sectors and offer guidance as we develop the programme and work towards Accreditation
  • Craft and design: to engage with the creative sector in developing new relationships and partnerships, making links with contemporary design and harnessing the fast-growing interest in the maker economy

You do not need previous governance experience, as a full induction and training will be provided.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: Trustees are required to be available for scheduled formal meetings four times a year; currently held online, via Zoom. In addition Trustees are asked to contribute to working groups and/or offer support to the executive team.

Daytime or evening meetings: Meetings are held online, early evening
