Trustee vacancy – Hampshire Cultural Trust

Trustee – Chair of HR and Remuneration Committee, Hampshire Cultural Trust

Join us in our vision to create inspirational culture experiences that enrich and transform lives

We manage and support 23 attractions across Hampshire and deliver county-wide outreach programmes that bring great culture to local communities. We also deliver a diverse range of wider social impact initiatives targeted at those who are most vulnerable or disadvantaged and who would not usually have access to arts and culture.

We are seeking a trustee to join our passionate and knowledgeable board and lead our HR and Remuneration Committee.  We meet as a board six times during the year and the HR & Remuneration Committee also meets twice a year.  Our meetings are a mix of both face to face and virtual.

We aim to have a diverse Board of Trustees that reflects the communities of Hampshire and surrounding counties, in particular; younger people, people from the LGBTQ+ community, people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority groups and people with disability.  First-time trustees with relevant transferable experience are welcome.

A bit about you

While all trustees are collectively responsible for management of our resources, you’ll also make your mark as leading our people agenda.  You’ll play an active role in ensuring all trustees fully understand our people agenda and contribute to discussion and decisions around it. You’ll bring vision, strong communication skills and an understanding of HR to guide and enhance our strategic development.  You may not have been a trustee or similar before, but you will have experience of working at a strategic level.

You’ll bring significant senior experience and expertise gained from a career working in HR and apply it to help the Board reach sound decisions. You’ll work closely with the Director of People and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, acting as mentor and adviser.  As a trustee you will be involved in reviewing board and committee papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives and other issues in which you have specialist expertise. You’ll strive to achieve best practice, ensuring we work within the legal and financial requirements of a UK charitable organisation and a registered company.

Support and training are available to help you settle into the role of trustee.
