Trustee vacancy – The Heritage Alliance

Are you passionate about heritage? Would you like to play an important voluntary role in leading and supporting heritage organisations? The Heritage Alliance is looking for new trustees.

The Heritage Alliance is the largest collaboration of independent heritage organisations in the UK, with over 160 members representing more than 7 million volunteers, trustees, and staff. We are a charity that is passionate about promoting the importance of heritage to prosperity, wellbeing, our environment, creativity and social resilience. We are committed to promoting new thinking and conversations, and to ensuring that our sector better reflects the varied geographical, cultural and age characteristics of the UK.

We are looking for up to three new trustees, and are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in academia; communications and media relations; income generation, and membership development.

As a trustee you will work as part of the Board to:

*shape strategy

*advocate and represent the sector

*monitor performance against objectives

* support and advise the Executive team

Trustees also champion and promote our vision and objectives. We wish to see a society which:

* Recognises the contemporary role of heritage places, spaces and objects

*Values its contribution to creating and sustaining social, educational, environmental and economic value

*Supports and recognises the importance of volunteering to our member organisations and to their communities

The board meets formally five times a year including at an Annual General Meeting. However, additional meetings may take place as necessary. You can be based anywhere in the UK, and while the role is not remunerated, reasonable expenses will be paid to enable you to attend any in-person meetings.
