Trustee vacancy – Imperial War Museum

IWM is seeking to appoint two new external members of the Trustees’ Audit Committee, established to support the Board and the Accounting Officer in the exercise of their responsibilities for issues relating to risk management internal control and governance.

Members are expected to allocate sufficient time to the role: to read papers, attend four meetings per year; and to read and comment on the final draft content and presentation of the IWM Annual Report and Accounts We are seeking to appoint individuals:

  • who are a qualified accountant;
  • with an in-depth understanding of annual accounts and their presentation;
  • who are familiar with risk management;
  • with the ability to analyse financial and non-financial information;
  • who have sound judgement and a high level of integrity, with the ability to think logically and objectively.

We particularly welcome applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience. Appointments will be made on merit following a fair and transparent process.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment:

These appointments will be for an initial period of three years and subject to the approval of the IWM Board of Trustees. External members may serve a maximum of three terms.  Members will be expected to allocate sufficient time to the role: to read papers, attend four meetings per year; and to read and comment on the final draft content and presentation of the IWM Annual Report and Accounts prior to their presentation to the June Audit Committee meeting. Meetings are usually held during the week, during working hours at IWM London.
