Trustee vacancy – London Museum of Water & Steam

London Museum of Water & Steam is looking for new Trustees who are willing to be actively involved in the Museum’s development, who share our passion and commitment, have an interest in industrial heritage and who have the knowledge and experience to the support its work.

We’re excited to hear about your skills in the any of the following five areas:

  • Trustee (Community). Are you passionate about community engagement? Do you have local community links and connections? Could you advocate for community voices to have continued and greater access to the Museum and its collection?
  • Trustee (Learning / education). Are you a teacher, educator, or Museum Learning practitioner? Are you up to date with the needs of children, schools and young people in formal and informal education?
  • Trustee (Strategic audience development and marketing). Do you have experience in museum audience development? Could you help lead on our strategic planning? Do you have ideas about ways of engaging with our broad audience base? Do you have a background in Marketing, particularly digital?
  • Trustee (Hounslow local business). Are you connected to local business? Could you help steer our business interests and develop our business contacts and partnerships? Could you represent us in key networks?
  • Trustee (Sustainability and zero carbon). Do you have experience and knowledge around sustainable practice and working towards zero carbon business models? This is a new area of work within this industrial steam heritage site which will strategically guide the Museum into the future.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment:

A minimum commitment of time averaging half a day a month, which may vary depending on time of year and organisational needs.

The Board usually meets quarterly, at the Museum and during the evening, with meetings continuing via Zoom over the past year.

Trustees are also expected to serve on at least one of our standing committees, which also meet four times a year.

Daytime or evening meetings: evening.
