Trustee vacancy – Lyme Regis Museum

Lyme Regis Museum is seeking a new trustee to join the Board.

Our mission is to engage with our increasingly diverse audiences, providing them with a greater understanding of the exceptional history of this remarkable place.

We are keen to build an inclusive organisation, which reflects the diversity of the UK population and includes younger people.

Applicants should have an interest in museums & heritage, engagement, and participation.

The role and key responsibilities of the Board of Trustees is to:

  • Be responsible for the over-all governance and strategic direction of Lyme Regis Museum, including major policy decisions and constitutional matters.
  • Observe the Articles of Association (Charity Commission governing document)
  • Approve the annual accounts and budgets, decide on any major resource issues, and ensure the solvency of the Trust and the safety of its assets.
  • Assist with fundraising and income generation.
  • To nurture the museum’s reputation and to promote, advocate and encourage support and recognition locally and nationally.

Trustees are asked to commit to a three-year term on the Board, with the option of serving for a further two terms.

To complement the skills of our existing trustees and create a sustainable future for the museum, we are particularly looking for applicants with experience and interest in:

  • Finance
  • Fundraising and income generation
  • Digital Technology, Engagement and Learning
  • Geology/Palaeontology
  • Museums/Heritage Sector

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 4

Daytime or evening meetings: Daytime
