Trustee vacancy – National Coal Mining Museum for England

Three new Trust Board members at the National Coal Mining Museum for England:

  • Finance expertise – CCAB qualified or qualified by experience
  • Senior HR professional – preferably with Culture/Change Management experience
  • Mining Industry Expertise – With competence demonstrated by a Class 1 Mining Qualification Certificate or relevant experience.

We are also keen to hear from individuals who do not meet these specific criteria but believe they could contribute to our thinking and our future success and resilience.  Spatial planning, site development and major fundraising experience would be particularly helpful with our Masterplanning project.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment:

The Board meets in person at the Museum 5 times per annum and aims to hold at least one Awayday each year.  There is an expectation that Trustees will join Board Committees which also meet 5 times per annum (these are currently held virtually) and/or special Working Groups which may be required to be established.

Daytime or evening meetings:

On site meetings generally start at 10am and finish with lunch.  Where the need for extra Board meetings may arise, over and above those scheduled, we do our best to accommodate availability and can offer Zoom meetings where appropriate.  Formal meetings are held during the day.  We have an expectation that Trustees will try to support on-site events and activities as and when they take place.

Closing date for applications:       5pm 31 January 2023
