We’re a small arts charity on an exciting journey. We are transforming industrial heritage site New River Head into the national centre for illustration and a home for Quentin Blake’s archive. We have recently been awarded a Development Grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This will fund a programme of work to develop our understanding of costs, resources, timeline and audience needs, enabling us to develop our application to apply for a full grant of £2.5million towards the project.
We are seeking to recruit up to four new Trustees to our Board and to strengthen our Committees and Advisory Panels. This is a pivotal moment for the charity as we transform disused heritage buildings in Clerkenwell into the new national centre for illustration, opening in 2025.
Quentin Blake Centre champions art that is dynamic, diverse and inclusive. We especially want to hear from people whose perspectives have been under-represented in our organisation and in museums and galleries more generally, including people who are:
- under 35 and/or
- identify as D/deaf or disabled and/or
- identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or
- have African, Caribbean, Central Asian, East Asian, Latinx, South Asian, South East Asian or West Asian heritage (heritage that is under-represented in illustration)
We are registered as a Disability Confident employer. Please let us know if you have any access requirements that need to be met to support you to make an application or participate in the interview process [email protected].
An online information evening for this role will take place on Thursday 28 September from 18:30 – 19:30. This is an opportunity to meet some of our current Trustees and the Director, to hear more about the roles available and to ask questions. If you would like to attend, please email [email protected] and ask us for joining details – these will be sent out to you the week commencing 25 September.
