Trustee vacancy – Saltaire Collection

The Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA) are currently seeking a Trustee/Board Member with governance and organisational health skills.

The Saltaire Collection was initiated by the local community in 1987 and now holds over 6,000 items that help interpret the World Heritage Site of Saltaire for visitors and learners. This is an exciting time to be involved as our charity progresses toward Museum Accreditation for the collection and will be moving into purpose-built storage, research, and public display space in 2024.

Our board of trustees meets every two months, usually via Zoom. The vacant position is strategic in nature, playing a significant part in ensuring our business planning and organisational health is robust. On a monthly basis, the role includes a small amount of financial monitoring.

Expressions of interest are particularly welcomed from within the Bradford and Leeds districts, which are in easy travelling distance, and the role would suit a person with a background in management. The voluntary time commitment rarely exceeds half a day each month and the role could suit either a person needing to gain some experience within the charitable sector or a recently retired person. A knowledge of financial procedures would be helpful, though not essential as our accounts are maintained by Shipley College’s finance director, and sound financial procedures are embedded in our day-to-day work.  There will be a comprehensive handover and induction to the role.

Please contact SWHEA on [email protected] with FAO of Maggie Smith in the subject line, for more information.

Closing date: 24 April 2023.
