Trustee vacancy – Spode Museum Trust

Spode Museum Trust is Seeking New Trustees

Deadline for applications is Friday 16 July

Interviews will take place at the Spode Museum Trust Heritage Centre on Thursday 29 July, 2021

Spode Museum Trust is seeking to increase its Board members to bring new thinking, skills and experience to support our next phase of development.

The Trust is at a pivotal point. As custodians of a unique and important collection including ceramics, but operating as a small trust on limited funds, it is embarking on an exciting journey. With funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NHLF), the Trust has commissioned consultants to produce an options appraisal, collections and conservation management plan and governance review. It hopes the outcomes of these strands of work will pave the way for a significant project to expand the museum and visitor offer, creating a vibrant and sustainable future for the museum that befits the Trust’s significant collections and the important former Spode Factory works site in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Trust is particularly interested in receiving applications from people with the following skills and experience:

  • marketing and communications
  • museum/arts funding
  • recent senior experience in museum operations and/or management
  • commercial business development
  • legal
  • financial, ideally with particular experience in charity accounting
  • HR and volunteer management

In particular, the Trust needs to appoint a new Treasurer and Secretary, as both positions are becoming vacant after the retirement of long-standing trustees. The roles are not renumerated.

If you think you have the skills, experience and personal qualities to support us in taking this vital next step, we would be delighted to hear from you.
