Access Consultant – Dundee Heritage Trust

Job Title: Access Consultant
Salary: £10,000
Term: June - September 2024
Location: Dundee Heritage Trust
Closing date: 5:00 pm 21 May 2024

Background

Dundee Heritage Trust runs two highly respected and vibrant museums – The Royal Research Ship Discovery/Discovery Point and Verdant Works. Both sites are fully accredited museums and have won numerous awards, both national and international, as well as being 5 star rated attractions with Visit Scotland. Both the polar and jute collections are Recognised Collections of National Significance.

Purpose of Job

We are inviting expressions of interest from a suitably qualified Consultant to undertake an Access Audit of Discovery Point and RRS Discovery and the proposed capital project ‘Discovery Point Transformed.’

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to take part in and benefit from heritage. Improving accessibility and inclusion is a strategic priority for the Trust and the redevelopment offers an opportunity to review our approach, embed inclusivity, and to ensure that our project creates a welcoming and accessible space, free from barriers to participation. The audit work will be undertaken in the Development Phase for the project. The Access Plan will be submitted to the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Delivery Phase application in late 2024.

A flexible and friendly approach to work is required and the ability to work as an integral part of a small team is essential.
