Collections, Galleries and Interpretation Manager at Historic Dockyard Chatham

Job Title: Collections, Galleries and Interpretation Manager
Salary: £35,000
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
Term: Permanent
Location: Chatham Historic Dockyard, Kent
Closing date: 5:00 pm 23 April 2021

Do you have a passion for developing and reaching diverse audiences within a museum and heritage landscape? Would you love to immerse yourself in over 400 years of maritime history? Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of partners, individuals and groups in the development of innovative and sustainable projects?

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust is seeking applicants for a new and exciting role following the retirement of its long-standing Director of Heritage, Public Engagement and Learning and its first museum curator. The successful candidate will lead the Collections and Galleries team to contribute to the Trust’s core charitable objective of ‘learning’ through the management and care of the Trust’s museum collections and interpretative galleries. You will develop the Trust’s knowledge and understanding of its collections and of Chatham’s naval role and significance; as well as supporting the development of both on-site and digital exhibition and interpretation projects and programmes through provision of content, collections and expertise.

We are an accredited museum and Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and play a key sectoral leadership role in museum development across the South East. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining our accreditation status and supporting the Chief Operating Officer to ensure we continue to provide sectoral leadership on museum development, interpretation and collections care.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 23 April 2021 with interviews taking place the week commencing 26 April 2021.
