About the role

The Trust is now seeking a skilled Director of Finance to support their next strategic phase of growth, innovation and creativity. The next Director of Finance will support BMT as they drive forward change and support the presentation of their collections in new and exciting ways.

Reporting to the Co-CEOs, the Director of Finance will provide outstanding financial and business partnering support. Versed in devising long-term strategic financial and operational planning as well as short-term financial management, you will ensure that the most impact is achieved.

With scrupulously high standards, you will drive the quality and transparency of financial management and reporting. You will also maintain high financial confidence across BMT, both internally and with its partners and at Board level. The Director of Finance will secure robust financial controls and uphold an already excellent framework. Leading on the annual budgeting and forecasting, you will balance operational requirements with financial rigour, as well as agree on core budgets and deliver on financial plans.

As a team leader possessing high EQ and the skills required for collaborative vision leadership, you will work hard to cultivate a fulfilling working environment for the finance staff and all other members of the wider team. You will provide effective line management to the finance team, agreeing and reviewing annual performance objectives.

As a qualified Chartered Accountant, you will have experience in clearly articulating financial matters and translating this across all levels of the business and to a variety of stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. Adept at people management with the ability to contribute and drive the positive and engaging work culture at BMT. Skilled at developing and leading highly motivated diverse teams, you must be comfortable with operations in an environment of trust and openness.

With a sound understanding of planning and delivering on all financial matters, you will bring an understanding of these key functions around finance:

  • Charity Legislation
  • Corporate governance
  • Risk Management
  • Insurance
  • Finance and Cash Management
  • Procurement

You must be comfortable with presenting to boards and possess the ability to develop strategy and present business plans. The next Director of Finance must also have experience operating at a senior level and be adept at bringing their influence and skills to the executive function of a similar organisation. A high EQ and a demonstrable track record of building, developing a team, and leading high-performing teams will be advantageous.
