Museum Manager – Fleetwood Museum

Fleetwood Museum Trust is looking for a Museum Manager to join us working at one of the Lancashire coast’s most unique museums and heritage sites.  If you are passionate about bringing coastal, social and industrial heritage to life, inspiring the public and delivering a great visitor experience then this post is for you.

This role leads the site team and is responsible for the management of the site including an assistant, volunteers, operations, collections, facilities and income generation. It is also responsible for delivering a high-quality visitor experience at the site including tours, special events, exhibitions and facilitating group and school visits.

The post will lead on major developments on the site commencing in late 2023.

The Museum is independent and tells the story of the Fleetwood community from its birth as a Victorian new town through the years as a major commercial port, transport hub and holiday town.

Since 2018 the Trust has taken over and managed two significant collections, gained full accreditation and completed extensive renovations. As they progress in their endeavours to deliver a quality experience for visitors and locals alike they have started an ambitious programme to improve the conditions of their historic boat collection. The museum is a valuable community asset to the local culture, is well supported and apart from expanding our collection has recently acquired an attached property to blend with the major plans in progress.

Salary: £29,000 – £32,000

This is a permanent post based at Fleetwood Museum in Fleetwood.  The hours are 37 hours per week including occasional weekends and Bank Holidays subject to events.
