Higher Mill Museum Trust

Job Title: Trustees
Location: Higher Mill Museum, Lancashire
Time Commitment: TBC
Contact Details: rostronb@gmail.com

The Higher Mill Museum Trust is a small charitable trust which owns the 1789 wool fulling mill within the Helmshore Mills Textile Museum complex. Although the site is managed, maintained and opened to the public, by Lancashire County Council Museum Service, the trust has the responsibilities of ownership.  This partnership has survived for almost 50 years and we are anxious to develop it into the future.

During the last year we have lost long serving trustees due to health problems and we are now looking to appoint a small number of new colleagues.

We are located in the Rossendale Valley 15 miles north of Manchester and 12 miles from Burnley.

The Trust meets 5/6 times per year usually in the afternoon but we could be flexible in these arrangements.

During 2024 we are to launch a new website to create interest in our museum and to engender support for some fascinating future projects. These will include restoration of our working waterwheel and to reinstate the long forgotten overhead line shaft system.

We would welcome interest from prospective new trustees especially, but not exclusively,  those with enthusiasms for IT, fundraising or commercial activities.
